March 2011: It all begins

All it takes is two pink lines to change your life...

Could I be pregnant? That's all i thought about on the short drive home from work that Monday in March. The girls at work tried to talk me into buying a test on the way home but I couldn't bring myself to do it.  You see, in June 2010 I was diagnosed with PCOS (polysistic ovarian syndrome) and after much research, I knew it would be challenging for Jesse and I to become pregnant.  I had a few pregnancy scares prior to being diagnosed and everytime i saw one pink line on the test, a piece of my heart broke.  I decided to just go home and get in bed and hoped that in the morning i would feel better.
Morning came and i felt worse.  The room spun everytime i stood up and i felt clammy.  I called out of work and decided one more day in bed should be the cure.  That afternoon, I went to Target to get Jesse some razors and as i searched for the aisle i found myself staring at pregnancy tests.  Could i be? I quickly got out of that aisle and retrieved the razors only to find myself back infront of the tests. After debating in my head, i grabbed the ones that were on clearance and made my way to the front to pay.
3 minutes is a long time when you are waiting to see if your life is about to change.  I cheated and looked at the test soon after i took it and sure enough, there was that single pink line, almost taunting me. I went in the other room and tried to distract myself with the TV and when it was time to look, i picked up the test and immediately went to the trash can.  I knew there was only a single line and the thought of seeing the negative another time was something i didn't want to do. But something inside me told me to look one more time before tossing it. I slowly turned it over and was shocked to see another line joining the first line.  Could it be? Is this thing right? I mean, i did get it on clearance, maybe its defected? 4 pink lines and one digital PREGNANT later, i finally believed it was true!

When Jesse came home from work, he found more than just razors in his target bag.  And the look on his face was the look i had waited all day at home for, the look of "I'm going to be a Daddy!"
